Our History and our future

Building a stronger Muskegon, One Home at a Time

Solid Rock Housing Support began as Muskegon County Habitat for Humanity in 1985. A passionate group of volunteers came together to address the urgent need for affordable housing in our community. Over the years, their work made a lasting impact – helping low-income families gain stability through homeownership.

By 2019, rising construction costs made it harder to build new homes affordably. To stay true to our founding mission while addressing today’s realities, we transitioned into Solid Rock Housing Support. This shift allows us to focus on solutions that are both sustainable and impactful.

Adapting to Today’s Housing Challenges

We take a community-first approach. Our services are designed specifically for low-and moderate-income families in Muskegon County. Whether it’s home repairs or livability upgrades, we tailor support to meet each homeowner’s unique needs.

Every contribution stays right here in Muskegon County. You can be confident that your generosity is used to uplift your neighbors – improving homes, lives and entire communities.

Our Vision: 100 Home, 100 Stories of Hope

Our goal is to help 100 homeowners by:

Improving the safety of existing homes

Enhancing comfort and livability

Contributing to neighborhood revitalization

At Solid Rock, we don’t build new houses, we strengthen the ones people already call home. Together, we’re preserving affordable housing and creating lasting change in Muskegon County.
