Your application must include a repair quote from
a licensed & insured contractor.

Solid Rock Housing Support’s Home Repair Program (SRHS) will help fund minor home improvements for single-family homeowners with real property or mobile homes within Muskegon County. In order to apply homeowners must:
•Live and occupy the property as their primary residence in Muskegon County
•Have a household income that does not exceed 80% of Muskegon County’s area median income. (See income limits below).
•Must hold a homeowners insurance policy with hazardous insurance premiums current at the time of application.
•The home is not listed for sale.
•The home is not in jeopardy of loss. Repairs will be denied if there is a house payment or property tax arrearage, unless a workable plan exists for paying the arrearage.

Meeting these qualifications are not a guarantee of acceptance, but are just the min needed to apply.

Eligible Improvements

Eligible improvements for the housing repair program must fall into one of the following categories.


  • Water Heater
         Repair or replace water heater
  • Furnace
         Repair or replace furnace or components
        Increase efficiency
  • Housing Accessibility Modifications
        Installation of grab bars and stability rails
         Handrails for stairs
  • Minor Plumbing
         Clear clogged drain lines
         Repair or replace toilets
         Repair or replace leaking faucets and sinks
  • Minor Electrical
         Repair or replace outlets or switches
        Breaker box repairs
Quote from a licensed and insured contractor must be turned in with application
to be considered for acceptance into Solid Rock's Home Repair Program.

Financial Amounts and Terms

•The maximum dollar amount given by SRHS for repairs will not exceed $3,000. If repairs are less than $3,000, homeowners will not receive the difference.
•All repairs are governed by a Mortgage Agreement evidenced by a Promissory Note and secured by the homeowner terms set during the standard home assessment.
•The term of the co-payment required shall be determined by the homeowner’s ability to pay and will be on monthly payments.
•The co-payment percent rate will not exceed 75% of the total repair amount:
     •30% or below the Area Median Income - 25%
     •31%-50% of Area Median Income - 50%
     •51% - 80% of Area Median Income - 75%
•Approved applications will be subject to a $60 processing fee added to the total.

     recent quote from a licensed & insured company or contractor that details the repairs needed.
